Glad to see you liked Mate, Mrkvonic... I have rather high hopes for it as a replacement for Gnome 2 - and I'm hoping that more distros start to use it in releases. If we're lucky, it might save the Linux desktop from obscurity and death.

(I've found that Mate performs much better than Gnome 3 or Cinnamon, but I'm using the less powerful Intel 945 graphics.)

on my machine i had to disable the fancy effect for closing windows.

in Zim Wiki for example, the little delete window would fail to exit, the window just stays there and totally blank.

that setting is in Cinnamon Settings/Effects: "Closing windows" set to None,
if you have problems with closing windows.

Great Review. I like it.
I was with Mint for a year.

However, I am not on Ubuntu 120.04 LTS. I really like Unity. Its matured and feels right. Some might not agree but you have to try it. IMO

Not dead, up and running.
I'm entitled for some pause in updates, no?

Mrk
You are entitled to more than just a pause in updates. (Tanning holiday soon I think).
Anyway I can't connect for now with none of my Linuxes.

Aha, it's the ISP proxy server. Added your site to exceptions and all is OK. Strange as I have always used the proxy without trouble. Sorry Mrk.

How about an encore presentation, for Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 201204)?

Cheers!

Just recently I spent time installing several Linux Mint 13 releases, Maya MATE, Maya Cinnamon.
For some unknown reason the Cinnamon panel would not show in Maya, also not after updates to current versions and installing NVidia drivers.

So I installed the LMDE MATE/Cinnamon release in another partition.
My first impression is that LMDE offers both MATE and Cinnamon in one installation, easy switch at login.
I also notice that LMDE is more responsive than Maya, perhaps Debian is just a tad faster than Ubuntu.

Anyway, LMDE Cinnamon is my preference.

Thank you very much for suggesting wallbase.cc, I enjoy it!
