Firefox problem.

These guys need to learn a lesson from users.

Here is my "radical" suggestion for Vista and W7 operating systems.

Install IE9 V 9.0.8112.1642 (64 bit) make it your default browser

Remove Firefox, clean up your regsiter.

Now harden up IE 9 as follows:

1) Turn on Active X filtering
2) Turn on Smart Screen Filter
3) Under Tools turn on pop up blocker
3.1) Turn on tracking protection and down load a few ad on there.
4) Under Internet Options turn on Protected Mode across all zones
5) Optimize the security settings and the privacy settings
6) In your FW settings ensure no incoming packets for IE.

Why would i want to do that i wonder.
I love firefox and see no reason to remove it unless of course IE uses less resources but then id be hesitant.

IE is attacked more often than others so i dont think i will remove firefox for the time being.

I don't want to make you mad, but these days with IE9 hardened, sandboxie, and the FW rules in place the chances of a successful attack are near zero.

I try not to fall in love with SW or vendors ever. But for me these FF updates and changes and instability and privacy and debugging released FF products are TOO much. I'm not going to play their game anymore.

They are not the only browser in the ring so retire them til they clean up their mess. It will be good for them.

As far as resources go I have to say I don't care I've lots of CPU and RAM.
I find IE9 faster anyway.

That is my take on this and I know many will not agree but I'm used to being in the minority.

Dude, on the right of my address bar, in my Firefox, I have the controls for cookies, referrers, updates, redirects, adblocking, script blocking/allowing & https control for the web pages. In the address bar I have a flag with the country where the website is located + all the IPs and hosts file my browser connects to. I also have incredible tab control with Tab Utilities, mouse gestures, zoom controls with NoSquint. When IE will be able to do all these kind of things give me a call.

Well thanks for the offer I'm under no obligation to prove anything to you. But your reply tells me you have NOT looked at IE9. A few posts back I did provide the check list on how to harden IE9.

Just a comment that some of the items in your list are handled by 2 way firewall software. What hosts to avoid are handled by Host file, and peerblock type products.

FF seems to want to be a suite and take over my life on the www.

I know those things very well, but I still consider IE an old car compared with Opera, Firefox or Chrome. The only good thing about IE is that it remains an alternative for the 3 mentioned earlier.
