Do you believe Nod32 is safe enough?

I set Nod32 to high efficiency but It still let the virus stay in my hdd,while both BD and KAV can found it. What make me confuse is that pic.

I run NOD32 on my system and have not had an infection yet. Keep in mind that no AV catches 100%. On top of running NOD32 as resident, I also have bitdefender and f-prot as backup scanners and Ewido as my trojan scanner. I have 4 different spyware apps as well to keep crap off my system.

NOD32 is the best AV on the market, IMO of course. You also have to remember that NOD may not detect everything on a single scan. NOD catches viruses through multiple levels of protection. If you have a virus sitting dorment on your pc, NOD may not catch it, but there is a good chance the Heuristics will be triggered if the virus was ever activated.

Have you submitted the sample to eset for analysis?

Rather than use default settings, use Blackspear's extra settings which are laid out in detail in a sticky thread at the top of the NOD32 version 2 forum.

One other thing to consider is that the virus could be in an archive. NOD32 won't catch it until it's unpacked, then it will take care of it. Slightly different philosophy than KAV and BD.

Very interesting.....

I've never thought of that, just focused on what av can catch what virus/trojan but what's really important is when that virus/trojan becomes active will that AV catch it? I guess alot of viruses/trojans are dormant on a pc, which they don't do any harm until they go live.

Another possible is that maybe some of the viruses Nod32 or any other AV misses just aren't that important or contain no actual harmful code.

I guess seeing trojan/virus on our computers make us panic just a bit too much.

There is no such thing as sleeping trojans or backdoors (and worms).
They can be only active or corruped/non-functional.

Yeah, That is AVK. I use it as backup. Nod32 can not make me feel safe enough. So, do a on demand scan per week and make sure it is clean.
Well, Nod32 is the best AV which can detect future virus，love it. But still hope it can collect more sample and make a better database like others.Bd is improving.
