Default Missing padlock icon using Firefox -solution for now

Hi

I use Firefox as my default browser on win7 64 bit system.
The last few updates (including Version 15) of Firefox saw the padlock icon in the system tray disappear never to return. Padlock icon behaves as it should if I use IE. Chrome and Opera also OK, but I prefer to use Firefox.

In early August sought assistance from Webroot Tech support. I have had remote sessions, provided logs etc to Webroot in Sydney, Australia and I have to say Tech Support (Angela) has been fantastic. But no solution and I believe the fault I am experiencing has been upgraded (?) by Webroot Tech support to higher beings.

This morning while browsing Wilders I noticed the most recent post in Other software and Services forum Update: Waterfox 15 .
I had tried Waterfox ages ago but basically it was crap.
Reading that post I came across post no. 8 from PaulBB (thanks Paul)
"builds if you want a faster, optimized Firefox:

http://code.google.com/p/pcxfirefox/
http://code.google.com/p/lawlietfox/
http://code.google.com/p/fx-ayakawa/

By chance I selected 2nd link which under News provided links to Firefox 15-x32 and Firefox 15-x64. (I didn't know there was a 64bit version available).

Downloaded both and made copy of my Firefox folder (Program Files X86) and extracted contents of Firefox 15-x32 rar into Firefox folder. Started surfing net and my banking sites still no padlock.

Deleted contents of Firefox folder and extracted contents of Firefox 15-x64 rar to that folder.

Basically I was just attempting to see if Firefox loaded and opened sites quicker with these optimized versions.

But to my surprise using x64 bit version all https and sites that I had configured as protected; the padlock reappeared on each site visited.

I could not believe it. Have advised and uploaded original Firefox folder and both rar files to Webroot support so they can analyze everything and hopefully find the cause of the original problem.

My apologies for such a long winded posting but I noticed there are several members who have posted in Prevx forum who had experienced loss of the padlock icon.

Hope this is of some assistance.

So, in short: if you have a 64bit windows 7 then users should install a 64bit version of Firefox to see the padlock working correctly. Is this what you tried to explain?

The missing padlock also occurs with Windows 7 32 bit.

I have this issue the odd time and what I do is close Firefox and reopen then the Lock comes back as I have my HTTP & HTTPS set to max and I should see it always when I have my Browser open.

Done so TH thank you and matters underway. Might I say that I had a response from Support within 90 minutes of my initial query, which I find totally astounding and worthy of a medal of some sort, in a day when you find yourself lucky to get any sort of reply in the next week. Bravo Support guys.

Bump...just had a session with Jack T in Dublin and he has got the padlock to show. He started FF in SAFE MODE and found that the padlock showed and tried a few sites to see if it remained. Closed FF then restarted normally and the lock was there.
He takes it that FF had to learn that the lock was there and once aware of it, in future it will operate when required, as it seems to be doing.
Cannot speak highly enough of the Support crew, I wish all the other support sections were as rapid at contact and resolution.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to reproduce when the padlock disappears. The problem seems to occur mostly with HTTP sites.
