Default Acceptable levels of slowing down your connection with VPN

I spend the last 20 mins doing speed test and ping tests using speedtest.net and pingtest.net

Well the results varied greatly, mostly in a disadvantage of the VPN, especially the download and upload speeds, pings are generally 10-15% slower through the VPN.

I guess that's to be expected but wanted to see how much speed loss the others are seeing and what you would consider acceptable.

Also any other good methods to test and compare speeds of the VPN vs local ISP?

I dont see much slowing down on my 100Mbit connection when downloading torrents that are well seeded. Maybe 5-10Mbit/ or so.

Privacy focused VPNs typically throttle at about 2-3Mbps, to improve crowding. Torrent focused VPNs typically don't throttle.
