Default System Monitoring

Are there any tools which monitor system activity / changes? I am looking for something like WinPatrol but something which also include file activity so I can see if files have been added, removed, or changed.

Thanks

See if any of these fit the bill.

Process Monitor http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896645.aspx

FileSystemWatcher http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...(v=VS.80).aspx

File monitors http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads/file-monitor.html

You might find this useful too Tiny Watcher http://kubicle.dcmembers.com/watcher/index.html

Are you looking for real-time programs only?

My current favorite is System Explorer. One reason i like it is very low CPU usage. Some process monitors I've tried load the system too much. System Explorer has a wealth of features as well.

Real-time file change prompts:
Comodo Internet Security

On demand system comparison:
Autoruns - has snapshot feature and snapshot comparisons
What's Running - has snapshot feature and snapshot comparisons

Autoruns and What's Running each cover some items not covered by the other; thus I use both of these programs.

On demand file comparison by file contents:
NIS Filecheck, Fingerprint (from 2BrightSparks), FileVerifier++.

On demand installation monitors:
SpyMe Tools and TrackWinstall. TrackWinstall has a 64-bit version available. Other choices at http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/...re-in-windows/.

I use system explorer as well. It has a snapshot capability that will outline changes in the file system and registry nicely.

I use Tiny Watcher on my XP box but I do not believe that it has been updated lately. It will give you a list of file system and registry changes at every startup and whenever you tell it too..
