Any thoughts on how to avoid archive consolidation when using Backup Locations with quotas? As others have noted, archive consolidation is a very resource intensive process that vastly exceeds the time required to create the original backups...especially with large disk images. There are many scenarios when it is desirable to delete older archives when a more recent full backup exists.
I am manually removing older archives as the consolidation process can take several hours to complete on larger files. Response time suffers as the disk chugs away creating unwanted consolidations of older images. I would rather Backup Location file/space management be a 'hands-off' process. BTW - I have added a post to the 'wish list thread' requesting an option to simply delete (vs consolidate and eventually delete) qualifying archives (oldest full backup and any associated incrementals/differentials) when Backup Location quotas are exceeded. |

Hello Davey126,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software. Thank you for your suggestion. Please be aware that a feature to choose to automatically delete old backups (instead of consolidating) will be probably implemented in the later versions of Acronis True Image. I'm sorry, but the exact time-frame isn't defined yet. Thank you. -- Marat Setdikov
