Using WindowsXP Backup
An alternative method you can use to backup your Windows registry is employing Windows XP's built in backup software. By making a 'system state' backup with the utility, a copy of your registry is made and can be restored by using the backup utility. XP Professional users can access this utility right away, while XP Home users will need to add it from the CD by going to (your CD drive\Valueadd\msft\ntbackup and double clicking the 'NTBACKUP.MSI' file. This will start the installation wizard for the backup program.

do not confuse this Program with the System Restore feature of XP......this Program is a REGISTRY BACKUP......

Hi,
It's nice, but there's one problem - you need to be in Windows environment to be able to restore a backup. So if you cannot boot into Windows, you cannot use the backups. That also pretty much goes for System Restore. The two are good for returning to previous states in a working environment.
Backup works like System Restore, only more comprehensively. The thing is, these backups can be huge 200-2000Mb easily. So in that regard, using a true imaging / backup software that can run from dos or be executed from a boot cd, is preferable.

Could it be far more better if I just installs the free ERUNT on my pc that makes an automatic daily registry back ups?

I just deletes older files it makes to free up some drive space...

Shows you how to get the registry back by using the recovery console to get a backup from the repair folder and then booting into safemode and grabbing the backed up registry files from the snapshot folder

There is a very valid reason why its suggested making a "START-UP DISK"..............using a Start-up Disk a person can make repairs or re-install the entire Operating System............its not an "absolute" to be in a Windows Enviorment.

While its nice owning an "image" making program.....its also possible that not everyone can afford to purchase such Programs........people from all walks of life own computers....but not everyone has the financial resources for extra programs...........also, being forced to depend on third party software imo puts a person at somewhat of a dis-advantage......

These days even anti virus programs offer Users the chance to make "rescue disks" that run in DOS Mode........

the size of my registry backup is under 10 MB..............driver backup under 50mb..........
