Hi everyone, new to the forum and Acronis True Image - hope I'm in the right place.
My hard disk is starting to go on my main computer, running Windows XP and I'm considering buying Acronis True Image after downloading the trial. I want to copy/back-up/clone my original hard drive unto my other, spare, XP computer until I can get a new disk installed, and of course before the original one dies. Could anyone suggest the best option for me in this case, as this is quite new to me. Many thanks ManusM |

Does your spare XP computer have identical hardware to your current PC? If not, then a Clone will require some work.
I suggest that you do a full backup image of your drive, including all partitions, to an external hard drive. Once you have replaced that PC's hard drive, you may restore that image to the fresh drive. If you don't have an external hard drive, you could instead do a full backup image of your drive to DVD media. |

Thanks for the reply.
My other XP, which is on my home network, dosen't have identical hardware -graphics card, etc, is different. Both are running the same version of Windows XP and Service Packs. Could I do a full backup image of my drive to a drive on the other XP across my nework or..? Thanks ManusM |

Yes, you can create backup images across a network.
