Default VLC Media Player 2.0.2 released!

Quote:
It introduces an important number of features for the Mac OS X platform, notably interface improvements to be on-par with the classic VLC interface, better performance and Retina Display support. VLC 2.0.2 fixes the video playback on older devices both on MS Windows and Mac OS X, includes overall performance improvements and fixes for a couple of hundreds of bugs.

Quote:
2.0.2 is a major update that fixes a lot of regressions of the 2.0.x branch of VLC.

This update appears to fix the audio issues that have plagued VLC since the v2.0 release. Now one can increase the audio volume beyond 100% in VLC and the audio still sounds great.

I assume that the VirusTotal Trendmicro HouseCall scan result (TROJ_PAM_000000038A.T3) is a false positive. Is there a way to report this to Trendmicro?

Antiy-AVL also reported: Virus/Win32.Xpaj.gen

Also, is there a way to report this to Antiy-AVL?

Thanks in Advance.

Unhappy Dolby Digital and DTS Not Working

Since updating, I am unable to play DVDs in Dolby Digital and DTS via an external decoder.

I am using the same audio settings that have always previously worked.
Quote:
Win32 waveOut extension output > Use S/PDIF when available.

But it is not working.

Any ideas?

Edit: I have since changed from:
Quote:
Win32 waveOut extension output > Use S/PDIF when available.
to
Quote:
DirectX audio output > Use S/PDIF when available.

And it is working again.
Not sure what has happened to: Win32 waveOut extension output.
Is it broken for anyone else?

I'm giving VLC another chance with this version ... I'd reluctantly removed it a few months ago because it suddenly started consistently crashing when opening, and switched back to PowerDVD for DVDs and Win media player for everything else.

One thing I still need media player for is MIDs, of which I have several hundred and which VLC doesn't support without an add-on (guess they figure it's an obsolete format). Can someone kindly steer me to that add-on and briefly refresh my memory on how to set it up in the VLC settings? Thanks -- I tried searching at their forum, but search wasn't working.

Instead of manually selecting an output module, why don't you leave this setting at "default"? I have this at default and it seems to automatically switch to whatever is the best output format for a given input.

For bugs report, it is better to post at VLC's own forum. You will get better resolution there as it is frequented by VLC's developers and they maybe able to actually fix the bug.

Hey, thanks Raza.

That never used to work in previous versions.

Edit: Strange, but every time I go "Next", the audio reverts back to analogue audio. VLC doesn't remember the selected audio language after clicking "Next".
