Default Help with configuring

1) How do I reconfigure ESET Smart Security to allow traffic from this network, which will consist of your residential gateway (router) plus any other devices (computers, printers, NASes and so forth) connected to the network,

2) Set the ESET Personal Firewall to Automatic Mode to allow it to create rules for traffic on this local area network. ??

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Here's how to reconfigure ESET Smart Security's ESET Personal Firewall to allow transit of network traffic.
  1. Open the graphic user interface from the system tray notification area.
  2. Press F5 to open the Advanced Setup window.
  3. In the left navigation pane, select Personal Firewall. In the right pane, change the Filtering Mode to Interactive. This will allow prompts to appear when a network traffic rule needs to be created.
  4. In the left navigation pane, select the Rules and Zones sub-item of Personal Firewall. In the right pane, click on the Setup button in the Trusted Zone section. The Subnet Section window will appear.
  5. In the Subnet Section window, select the subnet range associated with your particular home network. It will probably begin with a private network number of 10.n.n.n, 172.n.n.n or 192.168.n.n. Once the subnet is selected, click on the Next button. The Change the protection mode of your computer in the network window will appear.
  6. In the Change the protection mode of your computer in the network window, select Allow Sharing and click on the OK button.
Your copy of the ESET Personal Firewall should now accept traffic transiting the local network. You will be prompted to create rules for unrecognized traffic on as as-needed basis.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky
