I know from experience that even after you remove malware, it can screw with system settings, such as preventing executables from running.
What are the best portable tools to fix these changes?

The best tool you will ever use for malware Damage is a Image replacement. Once I know I or suspect of malware I restore a Image.Cleaners, root kit removers and so forth Is probably more likely to leave collateral damage. A good image replacement and your back up in minutes.

IMO, the only tool. After infection I wouldn't even use my box again unless I either restored a clean image or reformatted it.

If there is no other option but to try to repair then this tool is about as good as it gets.
http://www.tweaking.com/content/page...ll_in_one.html If you look at the page ifo it does reset/mend lots of things, but before you start it encourages you to do a SFC and a make a sys restore point from within the tool itself. Quite a few of the malware removal sites use it. |

If you have Rollback RX, you can just revert to a time before you got your system screwed up.
Works much better than Windows Restore! |
