This was a response to kjdemuth who was asking for clarification of a statement by Coldmoon regarding the approach taken by Returnil. It does not apply to Shadow Defender which does not support scheduled commits.

For normal day-to-day operation, I only keep my system and recovery partitions in Shadow Mode. My Firefox profile is held on a separate data partition which is not normally virtualized; but when engaging in high risk activities, I also temporarily put the data partition into Shadow Mode as well. This is not inconvenient to do as non-system partitions can enter and exit Shadow Mode on the fly without rebooting.
