Hi WilliamP ,
Did you install BOClean4.11 under an Administrator account? If not this maybe your problem. Just an idea for you. Loki

Just to say that the manual updater in this new version on my computer, seems to work much more smoothly and quicker than previous versions.
But I will use the automatic updater mainly, which again is working very well. |

I already have my update. Kevin is great! Unlike a lot of companies, they really give support!
![]() I was checking the forum and the rating though for the anti-trojan programs and I am happy to see BoClean is rated so highly. I will be up for renewal soon. Think I will stick with the winner. What is NOD?

Nod32 and Boclean 4.11 are working well on my box. The only caveat: AMON exclusion of Boclean.exe is no longer working. Worked when I had 4.10 installed (I was one of the lucky ones).
I know, sounds crazy. ![]() Well, at least it doesn't appear that the exclude is entirely necessary in my case. Since ESET is looking into the Exclude problems, I can only hope that the problem will be resolved soon. No complaints.

Some links and info:
1. Once again I would highly recommend to read this page: http://www.nsclean.com/supboc.html 2. BoClean 4.11 and crunch to harddrive Win98 http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...ty,1~mode=flat There is written about crunches from your harddrive on a W 98 SE box. The solution can be to disable this option in BOClean: "Recalibrate every 10 seconds". But do that only after a few days during which you have let BOClean get settled down. You can read there a comment from Kevin. "Greetings! Yes, you managed to figure it all out already. We turned on the auto just in case folks DID have a problem and couldn't figure out what wedged. But with that unchecked, that stops BOClean from writing notes to itself as to where it last was. But yep, you've got the answer already on your own." 3. A thread at GRC. A postings from Kevin: https://grc.com/x/news.exe?cmd=artic...tem=2370&utag= It’s an on-going thread, but that was Kevin’s posting. 4. I would also like to point out that the way of updating is changed: With version 4.10 PSC used the so-called Active FTP way. In version 4.11 that has been changed to Passive FTP. This could mean that you might need to change some settings in your firewall for the BOClean-updater to get updates for 4.11 But that is of course depending on your firewall and the way you have set it up. |

I'm trying to get BoClean 4.11 to update using Kerio 2.1.5.
os=2000, v4.10 worked with ports 20+21. What ele does 4.11 need? (I've seen alerts for 113 and others at random 1024 to 5000.)

Felicity,
Courtesy and quoting LowWaterMark: The key difference when switching from active to passive FTP is the direction for the initiation of the connections involved. With active FTP, after your system connected to the remote servers TCP port 21, you needed a rule that would allow the FTP server to connect inbound to your system from it's TCP port 20. With passive FTP, your system initiates all the connections, so they are all outbound connections. regards. paul

Got it working now, deleted the incoming 20 rule and added the other for any port outgoing to Boclean.
Thanks very much.

Warning to all BOClean users:
It is now today Sept. 10, 2003. You cannot install anymore updates for BOClean version 4.10. You have to have version 4.11 to be able to install updates from now on. Quote from Nancy and Kevin on the update-notice at Sept. 9, 2003: Note to BOClean 4.10 users who have not yet upgraded to BOClean 4.11 - is the LAST database update for BOClean 4.10. You NEED to upgrade to BOClean 4.11 if you haven't already. When you go to install the last BOClean 4.10 update, you will receive an onscreen message with instructions provided that you have NOTEPAD on your machine. -end quote- Another remark about update notifications via email: If you had subscripted in the past for the BOClean-update-notices from PSC via email, you will not get them further unless you subscribe again. The reason is that BOClean gives you now the option to automatically update. But users who have subscripted in the past for the notices, have recieved an email with the option to subscribe again if you want to. |

Well, I'm paid up with Norton Anti-Virus so ... I tried OutPost and at first I was very impressed but as soon as I tried to set a few rules, etc. Well, the format confused me. However, I must admit, it doesn't take much to confuse me. ![]() So now I am trying the Norton Firewall and trying to remember how to connect my router. Mr. Wilders, sir...I put your banner up on my page below. I hope you don't mind.

Have to exclude all of Boclean in nod even the ini - file. Boclean directory can be excluded by using dos path names (with the famous ~) Ruben

Hi Ruben, I'm glad you got it working OK. Quote:
I have a little tip for getting such a "DOS path name (with the famous ~)". Such a "DOS name" is also called the "Short File Name". There is a little, free tool that gives you the possibility to get the full path of a file in "Short-File-Name" format: It is called "Ninotech Path Copy 4". It adds some options to your right-click-context-menu in Windows Explorer. You can read more about it in the following thread: Right-click-context-menu in Windows Explorer http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=13098 PS: there are more tools mentioned in that thread, but in this case I'm talking about that "Ninotech Path Copy 4". |
