Default Tablets continue to cannibalize PC sales

Quote:
PC sales in the first quarter of this year suffered, and analysts are placing the blame on the tablet market and the disaster in Japan.

Global PC shipments dropped 3.2% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, according to industry analyst group IDC. IDC analysts called the decline the first contraction in the global PC market since the end of the recent recession.

Analysts at Gartner also reported a decline, but gave a smaller drop of 1.1%.

Assuming it's true, the more people switch to laptops and portable devices, the more used PCs become available, at dirt cheap prices or better. Looks like I'm set on replacement hardware.

As a pc gamer i wont be giving up my desktop anytime soon however i have given up my laptop in favor of a tablet. While it may not be the same for everyone i find my tablet does everything i need it to do while being far more portable and longer lasting than any laptop i've ever had.
