I just uninstalled Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007(x86) from my Win7 ultimate(x64) and rebooted. Now SOL is not working(Firefox 3.6.13) the tab stays blue all the time and shows no info about website or IP adress. When opening the Prevx GUI the SafeOnline security status has also a green checkmark instead of the lock icon which is normal with an active browser. IE9 beta works sometimes and sometimes not. They both worked fine all the time, only thing I did was uninstalling office :S Another reboot didn't help either.

It looks like MOE uninstallation somehow plagued SO components what is hard to believe though ... but you never know ... MOE is a very huge application which is spread across system and registry. Anyhow a clean re-install should SO get back to work I think.

Yeah, that or uninstall using the official 'force' uninstaller - reboot - install again. Good luck! |

As TripleHelix suggested, I was referring to the official download tool. TH was kind enough to provide the direct download link.
It'll remove all traces of Prevx. If it still won't work with Firefox, I think you should contact either PrevxHelp here at Wilders or the support team. It might be an actual undiscovered issue. |

I'm unsure how SafeOnline would have been affected by Office
SafeOnline is not fully compatible with IE9 yet but it should work fine under Firefox and I'd be surprised if Office modified the Firefox installation in any way.Could you see if there are any odd addons in your Firefox installation that may have been left over by the Office installation? |

I used the Prevx removal tool but it didn't work correctly, probably because I had Prevx installed with a randomized file name. I then succesfully uninstalled it using the command prompt method and rebooted. Ran Prevx removal tool again to remove possible leftovers and installed Prevx again, SOL is still not working on Firefox

I didn't have any addons from Office in Firefox and after the uninstallation of Office there is still no addon. There was a plugin from Office installed but it was successfully removed by the uninstallation of Office. |

How about trying a reinstall of Firefox in case it got broken from the removal of Office?

Very interesting. I wonder if SafeOnline shouldn't be working in your Firefox installation but it worked because of Office? That would certainly be extremely odd but sounds like it could potentially be the case here. Could you let me know if you have any themes installed for Firefox or anything that changes its graphical appearance? |

I don't have any themes or personas installed, some addons add buttons for their menu's or functionality but even with all addons disabled SOL still doesn't work. Anyway, I found out it's definitely Office. I created a new VM in VMware player, installed w7 x64 ultimate + updates, installed Firefox 3.6.13, installed Prevx+SOL, SOL working fine, installed Office 2007 standard edition trial, installed Office service pack 2 and other important updates, SOL still working fine, uninstalled Office and SOL doesn't work anymore in Firefox. Office seems to somehow mutilate Firefox as the default IE8 does still work with SOL. However, I reinstalled Firefox in the VM and SOL is still not working. Deleting the userprofile in Firefox and creating a new one also doesn't help. So I think that or uninstalling Firefox and deleting Firefox's profile doesn't delete everything and what is not deleted is still broken, or uninstalling Office somehow breaks some part of Prevx SOL or maybe parts of windows itself.. |

That's extremely strange. Prevx does use some higher level interfaces for viewing browser contents which "could" be affected by something that Office is doing. As TH has suggested, a scan log may help find what's missing but this is quite bizarre (although "reassuring" that it is reproducible in your VM). I'll have our internal team try your steps to see if we can reproduce it here.Let me know if you find anything else! |

I don't know if MSXML 5 has anything to do with Prevx SOL or Firefox, but it seems it is removed when uninstalling office 2007 on a x64 OS. Maybe it has to do with the problem, maybe not, here's a link:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webdevtools/...r-to-hang.aspx I also noticed that reinstalling the office 2007 trial in the VM caused SOL to work again with FF, however I uninstalled Office 2007 from my real machine to install Office 2010, so I'd rather find the root of the problem than reinstall 2007 again. |

Any progress?
In the meanwhile SOL on my host pc suddenly started working again :S I was just browsing and noticed the tab is green again. Since the last time I checked it and it was still broken, all I did was install an update to Defraggler. It seemed unlikely it was caused by the update, but I tried to reproduce it in a VM, but it didn't work, so it seems it was something else. Uninstalling 2007 still breaks SOL on Firefox so it also doesn't seem to have to do with server-side changes from Prevx. Also, installing Office 2010 apparently installs what is needed and removed by 2007 uninstall, as installing Office 2010 fixes it. Maybe that can help you narrow down what files are removed that break the protection. |

Bet it is your validation key failing.
1. First, as a precaution, backup your documents and Outlook .pst file. 2. Next, uninstall Office Enterprise 2007 from the Programs applet of Control Panel. Restart the computer twice. 3. Open up Word 2007 from the Office Home and Student 2007 folder of the Start>All Programs menu. This should automatically cause the Office Activation Wizard to begin. Enter the Office H&S 2007 product key and activate Office H&S 2007 online normally. Once activation has completed, restart the computer. 4. Keeping all Office programs closed for the moment, visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button. Office should validate normally. Restart once more. 5. After restart, open up several Office programs including Outlook, to make sure the Nongenuine Notification is no longer being displayed. 6. Depending upon which Outlook installation (the standalone one or the one that came with the nongenuine Office Enterpise) was being used for your email, you may have to point Outlook to the location of your .pst file. |
