They have to spread the download base across all users, otherwise they'd have rather big update server issues.

Spread out over two weeks and longer?
Who else does that?

At some point in time Online Armor updates were distributed in similar fashion, although I'm not completely sure it's how updates are rolled now.

6 days and counting for an auto-download of 5.2.5162.
I got tired of waiting and manually installed. I think I would have been waiting an eternity.

(Sarcasm not intended for you, Securon.) I got the new version thru auto-update as well. It's the 2nd machine on a two-PC license that always lags behind for me. Last time it was a different computer that was updated initially. IMO, it's a drag to pay for a program then to go a long time without an auto-download of a new program version. I have a new copy of KIS2012 on hand that is calling to me. ![]()

Good Evening ! Well my much better half stated that Vipre wasn't behaving while she was surfing. So it's back to Eset ...and I agree with you that this staggered release is nonsense. I also feel that Gfi isn't as focused with Vipre compared to Sunbelt...they it seems are mainly focused on the Enterprise market...a larger company where priorities sometimes lose it's focus on the Consumer Home Market. Merely my impressions for what they're worth. Sincerely...Securon

KIS 2012 learning curve ?

Yes, learning curve.
Any time one switches from one program to another, particularly to a suite, there are new settings, new GUI, possible new conflicts to deal with (meaning new forum, new support, new knowledgebase). Having preferences all set and running smoothly is a definite plus. Removing that familiarity and starting in with something brand new requires learning. Maybe it's not that way for you, but it's definitely that way for me.

In a way yes but KIS 2012 works great at the default setting - only power users would like to tweak more
and this applies to every other AV then not just KIS

Sounds like you're defending KIS 2012, which you don't have to do on my account.
You tweak settings on AVs and so do I. All I said was I don't feel like learning about that stuff right now. And this is a thread about VIPRE. ![]()

Thing is, I've always caved in and went for the manual VIPRE upgrade. One time I held out for two weeks before deciding I couldn't wait any longer. More recently, I lasted six days. ![]() It's tough to see an upgrade pushed out to one PC in a network but not the other. Thinking back, I ran avast! for about 3 years on two machines and NEVER experienced that sort of wait time, RejZoR.

Then you were always among the lucky ones that got the initial update first. You can always update manually and that accounts for a very small % still.
If all the hundreds of millions of users would have updated at once i bet the servers would just crumble...

Betcha VIPRE doesn't have the big numbers that avast! has.
But I'm too lazy to go looking for it, if it's even published anywhere.
