I am using True image 11 home. Is there any reason to upgrade to Home 2009? Find no reason on the web site.

If it is doing everything you want and you can restore successfully, then probably not. The user interface is changed and it does some things differently such as a backup consolidation. Next version is probably out in the fall so why rush, if V11 works.

Also be aware that if you ever run into problems, the first suggestion is always to use the latest build of the version you are using if not try the latest version available. That's actually a little weak but this helps prevent user support from continuing to support outdated software for too long.
However, as seekforever noted, if you are not having any problems and the software does what you need it to do, there's no compelling reason to upgrade. You definitely need to test your backups though from time to time to ensure you can restore your data. If you don't test, Murphy's Law WILL bite you! Also make a copy of the backup to an off-site location (save a copy at work, for instance, or give a copy to a family member in case your house burns down...) and on more than one type of media. Save one on a hard drive in your computer, save one on an external drive, and even make one on DVDs. It takes a few extra minutes but is invaluable should something happen! |

I would stick with your current version if it still works.
I "upgraded" from ATI 11 to ATI 2009 and it was a down grade. It took 3 build versions of ATI 2009 to get it useable. So save your money. Good advice from Seekforever about regularly checking that restores still work.

Hello TerryM, Thank you for your interesting in Acronis True Image Here are some advantages of the current version Acronis True Image program: 1) Become more reliable as many issues have been fixed. You can always see improvements made within new build from release notes. 2) More hardware support under Acronis bootable disc, added more drivers for new chipsets, RAID arrays, etc. 3) Every new version has some new features/options which makes program more functional. 4) Some improvements of new version are the result of customers’ request. So you can adjust program for your needs. E.g. starting from build 9646 Acronis True Image Home 2009 has the ability to create desired number of incremental/differential backup archives after the full backup. The functionality is similar to Backup Location Management in earlier product versions (Acronis True Image 10.0 Home and Acronis True Image 11 Home) 5) More user friendly interface, built-in update option within the program. Best regards, -- Dmitry Nikolaev
