Default 15 technologies of today we'll still be using in 2030

Back when I was growing up in the 1970s, we fully expected that, by 2012, we’d all be driving flying cars to our condos on the moon where robotic butlers awaited, ready to bring us the cure for cancer from the bathroom first-aid kit.

How’s all of that working out? Sure, we now have faster, smaller computers, smartphones that talk back to you and smart TVs, but in so many areas of technology the pace of change is slower than Windows Vista booting off a floppy disk.

I agree with most of those, although I'm not entirely sure his son will be carrying cash when he's off at college. Not that cash won't be available, but I'd like to think that electronic money authentication will get to be more secure than carrying around something that can be stolen.

I also really hope that JPG goes away in favor of PNG.

BTW, I'd like to see the article rewritten as if his son doesn't turn out so great. "When he's looking for his next fix, he'll still be handing paper money to the dealer." "When his lawyer is messaging me about the trial, he'll still be using a QWERTY keyboard of some sort."
