Default ParagonHDM 2011 "HDD copy Raw" greyed out

This is a dublette of the same thread I started misleadingly in the 'backup forum of Paragon products'....but I think best is to discuss my problem here:

ParagonHDM 2011 "HDD copy Raw" greyed out

I bootet via rescue disc in order to image a usb 500gb drive that got destroyed since HDM crashed while merging partitions under Windows 7!

My 1st hope was that it would continue its interupted progress but guess what... (((

So, I need to image my drive 1st before I try to recover my pictures and videos.

But now, when trying to 'copy' destroyed 500gb drive onto a new 500gb drive HDM Pro does not allow me to 'copy raw' !?!?
It is greyed out.

What the heck?

Can someone be so kind to exlpain me what is going on here?
Is Paragon automatically using 1:1 copy mechanism in this case?

thanks alot!

PS:
In general: Is 1:1 imaging (raw) best done under a Linux environment, WindowsPE (yes, there exits a clonedisk tool with raw capabilities for free, too. It even can image directly into VHD...) or dos like old Ghost? Best means for me also the speed since I do not want unnecessarily for ages. Paragon tells me it need 17 hours for copying 500GB in the mode mentioned above.

have you tried doing a chkdsk c: /f or chkdsk c: /r ? this will usually take care of the "raw" drive which is another word for corrupt drive. Chkdsk is very good at fixing a raw drive.

Worst case scenario tried using testdisk to recover your partitions. I had this happen to me before twice where a partitioning operation crashed, both times testdisk was able to find the partitions and rebuild them, no data loss. This was on a 400gb hard drive that was almost full to capacity of data.

Thats what I would do, Testdisk worked for me. As long as you don't write new data to the drive or reformat, you should be able to restore your drive to it's original configuration. All the data will have it's original names etc.

When you try to recover data with data recovery programs sometimes the names are different and I try to avoid all that.

Thank you.

I made a 1:1 copy of the lost hdd with Paragon and it took for 500GB 17min.

Then I recovered successfully my partitions one time with Testdisk and one time with Minitools Partrecovery. The later was done in 1 min where Testdisk needed much much longer since it scanned the whole drive for partition information.
