I've had the best experience in terms of system snapiness with v4 of NOD32.
Will I miss anything now if I use it or is it secure as long as the definitions are updated?

Hello berryracer,
You will only be missing HIPS, Eset Grid (Cloud). For the rest you have the same protection as version 5. Regards Niels |

And is that a big loss or not really a biggie?

In lieu of LiveGrid there is ThreatSense.Net. In lieu of HIPS you have Self Defense. I've felt no compelling reason to upgrade to the v5 engine, thus far, but that is a strictly personal preference.
