NTFS & MacOS partition on the same disk

I recently bought NTFS for Mac, and I was wondering it there was a problem in have a NTFS partition and a MacOS partition on the same external hard-drive in the same time?
I did it on one hard drive (1TB) but sometimes I am having problems with the OS partition disappearing while transferring data on it (RAW pictures for a couple of GB), and I was wondering if this could come from a incompatibility between the two partitions.
