Hi everyone,
I have a question about Macromedia Flash, ActiveX and Java Script. My question is: Can any of these scripts locate my real IP Address or hardware information through a webcam? First off, I'd like to share with you that I am aware that JAVA can certainly reveal one's true IP Address - this I have no doubt. However, I understand that Java Script cannot locate your Ip address, unless it's running some other code like Active-X or Macromedia Flash etc. a) Do any of you know where I may test for Active X or Macromedia to reveal my real IP? Most of the test sites have testing for JAVA and flash but they do not reveal my IP based on ActiveX or Flash. b) If you guys go to www.stickam.com, and you click on "Who's Live", you'll notice they are all using webcams and you must have javascript enabled in order to use macromedia flash and ActiveX through Java script - i think? Anyhow, I set up my camera and was playing with my friends on the chat room at www.stickam.com. I kicked my buddy from the room and asked him to return via a proxy but somehow, he was still kicked for 24 hours and NO MATTER what he did, the program still knew who he was. We tried using the lastest TOR bundle and that also did not work. So my concern here is: What method is www.stickam.com using through flash/activeX to keep track of users? c) Is there something about Macromedia flash, active X or Java script and the webcam that allows you to be identified, even if you change the IP address etc? Thanks in advance, Steineresearch |

www.stickam.com Kicks and Bans people on thier flash player ID. You can change that by uninstalling flash and reinstalling flash.

FWIW- I am aware of someone who went to and completed some download at the stickam.com site. The next scan with CounterSpy showed a keylogger. Were the two connected? Beats me, but it certainly is possible.

Yes Java Sees past any proxcy to your real IP .if you use it, it uses Sripts to id you (forward for) and also depending on the ip used thy may also allow forwarding ,Showing your real Ip..could be ether .now to get around this use A proxcy filter .like proxomitron...set it to spoof you ip forewardings.get hold of jacks filters ..you find this all at the site ... i Do know AxtiveX and Java can be used to see your ip ,thats why some sites will only allow Java , to able you to see a page ,asking you to enable it ,if its blocked ...its uses the explote java trackers .and off site trackers ,and java sript Cookies telling them who you are ...also java rederects,HTML java sripts Probly one one the wort things one can be useing IS Java, But that depends on how open you dont mind being to the nett Pirivacy wize ... hope its a help itsmej Last edited by itsmej : February 15th, 2007 at 07:34 AM. |
