Default TI9.1 Workstation Network Performance

I am a prospective customer for TI Worstation & Enterprise and Snap Deploy products. I have been experiencing very poor performance with TI9.1W Trial backing up to an SMB network share. A quick search of this forum shows that others have been experiencing this and similar network related issues with TI products.

From my reading thus far, i have only seen workarounds or possible solutions that have been solved by Acronis Support via email (no public solution). I would like to know if this issue has been addressed and fixed in the latest build prior to purchase.

I have requested that my trial serial be activated so i can obtain the latest update (Support Ticket #831872) to see if that will solve the problem, if this doesn't help i will post all relevant system, build and specific issue details.

Can any users comment on their expirences when backing up to an SMB network share using TI9.1 Workstation. Im interested to see the transfer speeds people have optained when backing up to a SMB share with no compression compared with backing up to the hdd and then copying the file manually to the same share.

Cheers.

Support Ticket #842321
I have performed some further investigation to rule out software build issues in an attempt to pinpoint the problem.

Three tests were performed - Image C:, no compression, normal priority, max hdd & network bandwidth, 3.93GB image.

1) Backup locally, copy file manually
Backup approx 2mins, copy 6MB/s (~11.2mins)
2) Backup to Backup Server 'Personal Backup Location'
Backup approx 9mins, transfer 8MB/s
3) Backup across network to SMB share
Backup approx 9h51mins, transfer 150KB/s

Backing up to a network share is intolerably slow. Are any solutions available to improve network transfer performance?

I don't have a solution, but wouldn't it be nice if True Image had a throughput indicator? I have been requesting this since Version 6! (Ghost had one in their DOS version, and thousands of builds later, TI still doesn't...)

Hi,
not sure if it is the same scenario, but I had a slow performance imaging form a wrkstn to a network share drive. Fixed the problem by matching the wrkstn NIC card duplex setting (AUTODETECT rather than full duplex 100MPS). Now imaging across nework is real fast.

I'll give it a try on Auto, Full Duplex 1Gbps, Full 100Mbps & repeat through a cross-over cable to rule out the switch. I have read that this was the cause to other peoples problems as well, however i'n not sure why it would help in my case as i am obtaining reasonable speeds in 2 of 3 senarios.

Note slow speeds (150KB/s) have also been obtained backing up directly to a Maxtor NAS drive, 2-step (backup & copy) yeilds 3MB/s. I will test backing up to a Linux Server's SAMBA share next as well.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've seen that sw version running on a P3/1000 with 512MB RAM with an internal HD @7200RPM, backing up on a network share and TI stated 8Hrs just to image 27GB..... maximum performance/network bandwidth. But the PC looks idle most of the times and really little bandwidth usage. Strange....
