    Hi tech4 welcome to Wilders.

    Do the following files exist?

    C Drive> Windows> Temp

    C Drive> Documents and Settings> (User Name) XXXXXX> Local Settings> Temp

Do the "Temp and TMP" folders exist in "Environmental Variables" when you right click on My Computer as per the screenshots found in THIS LINK

When you then navigate to the folders mentioned in "Environmental Variables" are they actually there?

This error message is solely related to the following:
    • Not enough space on disk
    • Missing Temp folder
    • Insufficient rights to write to Temp folder
    • Possibly a damaged archive, although it's unlikely.
    • Permissions on the directories. Not share permissions, but actual security permissions.

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

Hello all! I'm new here, hope you can help me..... I'm trying to install NOD32 on my laptop and get the same message as is quoted here on the forum... Error occurrred while updating program modules (Cannot replace the current file. Check the system TEMP and TMP variables). Tried all the solutions given here, still the same problem. Im logged in as admin, both temp and tmp files are on my computer, diskspace is over 9 gig. A damaged archive doesn't seem likely. Still it gives the same error.... what am i doing wrong here??

As i try to update it just gives this error, and it won't finish it.... so no new virus database is updated
It's the first update after a fresh install

Ok . Make absolutely sure you have enough disk space , you use Admin right , make sure TEMP and TMP exist

After that , make sure that the folders
    C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\Temp
    C:\Windows\Temp
    are empty .

    Read carefully Blackspear's suggestion above

    Reinstall NOD32 :
    1) Download a fresh copy of NOD32 for your correct operating system
Trial version Full paid version version 2.7

Download with good browser , don't use any 3rd party applications/download add-ons . If you suspect one of your browsers is broken , you can use another one . If this is the first time you install NOD32 , make sure no other AV programs are installed.

    2) Goto Control Panel-> Add/Remove programs and Uninstall NOD32

    3) Reboot

    4) Goto C:\Program files and manually delete the folder ESET

    5) Install NOD32 from the file you just downloaded in step 1
    Use Typical settings

    6) Make sure you have stable i-net connection and NOD32 (nodkrn.exe) is allowed to go through your firewall and Update NOD

    7) Configure NOD32 as shown here

    Hope that helps !

HiTech_boy, do you keep the option "list all files" enabled all the time ?

No , this screenshot is taken from an ESET presentation about "Anti-Stealth technology" . "List all files" is disabled on my PCs and there is no need to turn it on .This screenshot was shown just to note the user that Anti-Stealth and Pottentialy unsafe applic should be on , they are not in the tutorial because it is for 2.5 :)

P.S. It is now fixed ;)
