Default Multi-user XP

Is there a way to install LnS on multi-user Xp without getting a second LnS popping up sometimes.

I'm using start menu/per user.

I log on, then log on to wife's account to check her mail, log off her account. After 30mins+ if I go back to her account I get a second LnS popping up. Second LnS has no IP address in welcome screen.

Thanks
Ian

Good question! I am experiencing the same problem. It is not so critical, since 90% of the time an additional second LnS starts, which does not affect the first one. I can just close the second one and that's it.
But from time to time even the single first LnS does not load correctly and does not connect to the right driver, and then I have to logoff - logon ones again

I took the easy route: deleted my wife's xp account and gave her her own shortcut to launch her thunderbird profile on my account. She even has a different icon and theme to me. Make her feel special.

Teaching her to save her files in her documents files will probably result in a major argument as I am obviously very impatient in teaching others. Her words, not mine.

I'll hit the wine before the lesson.

Normally when a new user is active, the first instance of Look 'n' Stop is disabled and the one from the new user should become the main one.

But unfortunately this doesn't work very well all the time.

If the options are configured "per user" then be sure to have the options correctly selected at least once for the new user (for a fresh user all options are set to default).

Here's how I'm using LnS with Fast User Switching:

I start LnS as a service and I have set "Automatic Start" to None.

I am the only Admin user on my computer and I always login first and I always remain logged in.

Anyone else who logs into my computer also always remains logged in. We use fast user switching as desired, but never logoff.

All users receive internet filtering and application filtering.

Only my admin account has the icon in the systray and only I can look at or change the LnS settings*. I store the settings in HKLM so that LnS works the same for everyone and so that only I can change those settings.

Other users cannot allow/block new applications because the LnS prompt appears in my Admin account regardless of which Windows account is currently active (because I always login first). This is the exact behavior that I want.

*Well, they can look at the logfiles and rules in the installation folder, and they can look at the Registry settings, but they don't have write permission, so that's good.

You are lucky, Pete99
Very often using the service mode and FUS is really a problem.

It is also strange the LnS prompt appears in the admin session only.
Normally, each user should have the icon in the tray, and after a user switch the new user is supposed to get the control of the application.

But since it works like you want, don't change anything !
