Default Wormguard installation error

Ive just reinstalled windows and in the process of putting back some programmes.Wormguard worked ok , however after reinstalling winodws (9 im getting this error when i click the install button (see pic)After the error i then click the test button which says wormguard protection is active and everythings secure. However wg doesnt intercept anything (double extensions etc) and allows me to put a url with a double extension in the start>run so its obviously not working correctly.Any ideas what the problem may be?.I have by the way exited all other progs before installing.

Hello..
No i didnt get that other error. However that file wasnt in the wormguard directory.I downloaded the file and put it in the directory, but with the same result. The unusual thing though , is that the file seems to disappear from the wormguard directory. Is that normal?

Thanks for help , however nothing seems to be working.Im not getting any wguard.inf errors , just the initial install error when i actually click the install button to activate protection.Ive put the wguard.inf file in the directory ..removed protection and clicked install again but get the same install error shown in the pic.I think ill sleep on it and may email support.
Thanks again anyway

Out of curiosity would anybody know wther the "installation failed" box with the red x is a wormguard or windows warning?

Hi there,
just a few questions:
did you reboot after the installation?
this might help
did you disable all kinds of protection, ProcessGuard, all at/av scanners, other you can think of before installing WormGuard and after the reboot enable everything again? I mean resident protection, as many programs keep protecting in the background even when you close their GUI.
You could try with all those measures a new installation over itself and reboot.
Hope it helps!

I'm not sure about the installation error box, but one should think it's a WormGuard thing.

An URL with more extensions might not be blocked, but how about a testfile you create with a double extension like test.txt.exe test.exe.vbs whatever, as long as it has a double name and see what WormGuard does with that?
Did you put your keyfile back in the WormGuard directory and reboot?

According to wormguard help at diamond cs.com , the double extension put in the run should be blocked...
http://wormguard.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=xphelp

Even not counting that though , i can open vbs files without any warning. Its definitly not being installed properly for some reason , hence the error.Ive tried using my keyfile and just using the trial.I also get the same error installing in safe mode , so i dont know what it is.It used to work , until i reinstalled windows.I had the keyfile free from dcs so i guess its no big deal,

What is different from your settings after re-installation?

VBS is not blocked default, you can block it in the blocked extensions list.

Did you create with notepad the test-files i told you and try those?
test.vbs.vbs , test.txt.exe, that kind of things?

What happens when you click such files?
What happened in your former installation, were they blocked and what more? Which extensions did you add in the blocked extensions and which in the blocked files list and what did you not add again after the reinstall?

hello jookse..
Well i thought id try installing it again and follow your suggestions as i made an error on the vbs anyway, and guess what...its installed with no problems. The difference between the last time i tried and today , is that i uninstalled nod32 and put kav5 back on last night.Prior to reinstalling windows i was running kav6 beta (207) with outpost and WG and had no problems. When i reinstalled
windows i tried a later kav beta version which conflicted with outpost so i renewed my nod licence and used that and was gonna wait til kav6 final came out..I did not associate nod with the wormguard installation problem (as it was exited when i tried) and also i couldnt install wg in safe mode either.Yesterday (after missing kav quite a lot) i put kav5 388 back on , and now i can install wormguard. Its either coincidence or nod was the problem.
