An option to SKIP the file that the scanner is checking...

I'd like to see an option to terminate memory infiltrations. Both when an actual memory infiltration is found and when a file that's running in memory is found on the HD and nod can't delete it. If it's found on the HD, and it's loaded in memory, there should be a "terminate and delete" option. If it's a DLL, either unload it and delete, or terminate the process, delete it, and restart it, if it's a legit process (I.E.: explorer.exe - many trojans use it to launch their attacks from); If the entire process is the virus, just a terminate and delete option. They're both as easy as calling the TerminateProcess() function. Saying that nothing can be done about a memory infiltration scares a lot of people, and really isn't the case, technically.

I also see in the on demand scanner that there's no option to do anything about archives, at least when they're set to "ask what to do". I'd like a delete archive option there. Saying the file can be deleted, yet giving no option to do so, would also scare some people, in my opinion.

This is what i want in newer NOD's if im gonna stay with it:

    Anti-Rootkit Technology
Greater Trojan/Backdoor Detection ( Get more Staff to make detection )
    Registry Monitor

And please don't make a Firewall or anything else before doing those things :)

    Best Regards Jocke

Hm a really unimportant one... but I'll post it anyway, at least to know the reason why it doesn't work...
When I enable ClearType font smoothing in XP, every application's any text is nicely smoothed, *except* NOD32 text in the interface (buttons are all right). If someone has abundant time, he could fix it :)
In the meanwhile, how do you achieve to be excluded from a supposedly OS level font smoothing?

A command-line scanner would be great (with the possability for SILENT scan without graphical gui's poping up etc. Just a scanner that silently CLEANS/DELETES and optional QUARANTINES the subject scanned, and logs the event to a file, or the threat.log.)
    - This cmd-line scan should ofcourse support all the features of the normal scanner.

A boot-img creator, that can create images (i.ex ISO's) to be burned on CD's or a set of files copied to flash-drives (usb-type) for easy removal of viruses on infected computers that not have NOD32 installed.... The computer can then be booted from the CD or the flash-drive, and cleaned!

Others than that - the program is GREAT!

NOD32 scanning - be nice if at the end of the scan, along with the summary of how many threats were found it would list those threats too, so you wouldnt have to scroll up through the scan log to see what has been found.

I'd like to know if there are any plans to add removal for memory infiltrations in version 3.0. It'd be a great thing.

    Thanks

Re: Automatic Update After User Log on: I would like to see another option for updating the program after user log on. I'd like the ability to set a lag (e.g., 1-10 minutes) to make sure my wireless connection has synched with my router.
This would eliminate all therror messages I get as well as having to update manually.

In addition to removing the completed/integrated suggestions, would it make sense to split this list and move all the RA/Enterprise requests to a separate post? It would make things a lot easier to find!

    Thanks.

Well, I guess that since the subject of RA has come up again, I'll add another couple of little requests to my "wish list" for RA:

    1. Allow the ability to change the name of a profile or copy an existing profile in the RA console, instead of having to recreate a new one every time
    2. A check box for "Replace all existing profiles with these profiles" so that old profiles are no longer kept in the client PC. I have a few machines (mostly test users) who have 5-10 profiles form various testing that we've done, when in actuality, there should only be two.
    3. A default set of profiles to match the ones that are already specified (Control Center - Local / Control Center - Diskettes, etc.). Should an admin have to create profiles that are already being referenced?
    4. Automatically change the Configuration ID when saving the XML file, so that if forgotten, the changes will still apply to the clients.

    More later...

I would like to see a license expires in the standard version. It's always good to know upfront when you have to put some cash aside for a new license. The 1 week warning is just too short - Would be better with a 14 day warning :)

I agree with that one, Because I get Friends to buy NOD32 and they keep asking me when they have to renew!! I always tell them to save the The E-mail with the Licence # and I.D.# but sometimes they Delete it!!

    Cheers,

NOD needs a drag and drop excluder like BOClean instead of having to type long file names.

    *Submission System*

Currently if a sample does not exist and is submitted, an entry is made in the Event Log.

An Event Log entry showing the name of the file and whether the submission system was contacted and the results (i.e. a sample exists and will not be submitted).

    1. A balloon like the update one telling the user that the file is submitted or not :)

    2. An option to scan the quarantine to see if the sample is added into the virus database

    already talk here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=89926

most adware/spyware/riskware removers provides you the ability to choose of delete an app or nor. and more, most of these provide an option to 4ver ignore the app. an example: Messenger Plus! 3, has an option to install or not the partner's appz (that are adwares and spywares), and most adware/spyware scanners found it and provides you the option to: remove, ignore for 1 (this) time or always ignore (add to exclude list).

the option to always ignore is good for viruses too, not only ad/spy/risk wares.

The option to ignore a virus is never a good option.

    On-Demand scanner fix

Right i think these things should be "fixed",

    1. the On Demand scanner,
When you detect a Malware in a RAR file the only option you have is Leave... really annoying cuz then i have to find the file and manually delete it...

Think NOD32 should delete the file within the RAR archive or alteast have a option to delete the whole archive...

    2. the On Demand scanner,
When a virus is detected it will pop up a message saying "Virus Detected bla bla" but then the scanning stops and have to select an option for the infected file before the scan starts again...

I put NOD32 Ondemand scanner on and go away from the computer and when i come back i want it to be done... But then i have a bloody virus detected popup and the scan havent even got 20% .... :p

I know you can change so it automatliclly do something but i think it should be better by defualt to ask everything when the scan is over and just lock the file until then...

Just some tips for the new NOD32 whenever it comes out ;)...

    Re: On-Demand scanner fix

If you just click Scan and let NOD finish, you can rightclick on any malware it finds and select 'clean' (unless it's in an archive) ;)

How about a popup bubble saying a scheduled scan is in progress.

Don't shoot me for comparing here...but Symantecs Management Console, you can see the usernames of people logged into workstations. This makes things easy when you browse your network in the morning, and look for redmarks of problems...you know who to go see to double check things. Some networks are made up of workstations with bland names, like ws10, ws11, ws12, etc. Would be nice to see usernames of who's currently logged into that workstation.

License keys - clients are confusing the License keys section of the NOD32 control center setup, with their username and password. It would be nice to have a note on this screen which explains that this is required for enterprise/remote administration only - and a link to open the window for the username/password for updates would also be a nice addition on this screen.

    cheers

If I had the answer to that question, I am sure I could be a WHOLE lot wealthier...

Make a the system more user friendly, and they'll want more... (the polite way to put it) - this is a trivial change I think, but I'm not the one making it! ;)

Honestly, I think the program is incredibly easier to use - but I'm DEFINITELY not the "average" user - and the more well known the product gets, then the more "average" the userbase will become. At some point, the system will need to get "simpler" - and Marcos has already hinted I think that it might do so... but there will always be questions from users - the more we can head off before they become support issues, the better Eset support and resellers will be!

    regards

    Greg
