cant defrag 2 hard drive with image on it.

I created a complete image of my c drive on my 2nd hard drive, which was 20 meg with acronis true image 8.0. I cannot defrag my 2nd hard drive (using windows xp defrag) where my image is located. When i try to defrag it stays at 3% done and is stuck at the image file. Is is normal not to be able to defrag a hard drive that has drives images on it. I am not using secure zone

How much free space did you have on your 2nd HD after you created the image on it? Was the image 20 meg or should that be 20 gig, or are you in fact talking about the size of the 2nd HD? Defragging generally requires a certain amount of headroom to move files around in.

my 2nd hard drive is 120 gig and my image gile is 20 gig

This is not normal that you cannot defrag the partition that has image file on it. Could you please create Acronis Report (please see http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317 for the instructions) and send it to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread.
