Any real-time virus scanner is incompatible with every real-time virus scanner :)

BD AV Free will turn off Windows Defender before installing itself

You explained the quarantine mechanism quite accurately..

And yes, if you remove BDAVFree / go to safe mode / break the GZ self-protect system while is running :), you can access those files

At some point, we were thinking of having the quarantine as a Favorite folder in Explorer/Commander - on the principle that the user should interact with the AV solution from his familiarly places (e.g. Explorer), not AV's user interface.. ;)

    ^^ :p ok.

Do you see any conflicts with EMET on max security, enabled for browsers, pdf reader and so on?

I like the thinking of that. It's better than opening separated folders where the quarantined/renamed items were. It will be more organized.

Also does BD free come with any toolbars? And any comparison chart between AV plus and free version?

It has been said several times in this thread that it is a cloud based AV like WSA. So afaik it will not download anything except engine updates and such for the client. HTH :)

Afaik no one have mentioned anything about any toolbar being included, if there were I think we would have heard about it by now.
Afaik no, BD Free is actually a little bit hidden on the BD website last time I checked :)

Indeed, I think the Dev needs to clear things out about whether it is fully cloud based, or not o_O Sorry about that.

I think current users can give the answer quicker and then Iulika0069 can chime in when he is available.

After the initial install of the program, judging by the activity of my modem lights, it looked like BD Free downloaded for quite a while to get it's initial defs during the "updating" phase.. if you've got very limited bandwidth, then it may take some time...

Oh no. Then I better not try it. It'd be nice if BD free was cloud like wsa and sigs were in the cloud.

So, BDAVFree uses a cloud-based version of the same anti-malware engines found in the Paid Editions..

Although, it's not entirely cloud, local signatures and caches are still present on the user's computer, but there is at least 5-7x less occupied hdd space than in the Paid versions.
Consequently, less Internet traffic for the signatures update; I don't have the exact numbers, I expect that the download size to be significantly lower.

There are drawbacks too: if you don't have an active Internet connection at scan time, you'll only have 90%+ of the detection rate; false positives may occur..

Oh thanks a lot.:thumb: It'd be really great if you could give the exact numbers that is the download size of the updates.:)

I think each update will differ in size a little bit.

I don't think the daily updates would be a problem for you Amit, but the initial update download after installation might be... maybe someone can quantify that a bit more....

someone said here before that initial size of program folder of bitdefender free was ~70mb & since installer is ~15 mb so i am guessing 1st update may be ~55mb.
