so i decided to wipe my hdd. anyway i did not realize blancco is now managing dban. midway through the format there was an error...i guess hardware related...it said dban was complete...then a message appeared advertising a blancco product....

unbelieveable...so they made changes to the code...who knows what else was included, i have a spare hdd around for paranoid measure.

The pc i was formatting was connected to the internet at the time. my question is during the dban initialzing process do you think it could have transmitted my ip and network data back to blancco....the motherboard is capable of network booting.

Excuse me for such a paranoid outlook but i've had negative experiences in the past

  3. What the hell? This is very fishy. I'm hoping they will continue development of DBAN but something tells me they won't.

And how can you buy open source software?
