Dull distros made great by Cinnamon and MATE
This might rather interest you. Here's a short article introducing several Linux distribution significantly improved in terms of aesthetics, appeal, raw functionality, performance, ease of use, and even stability when running the non-standard Cinnamon and MATE desktop environment.

i agree but all distro need some makeup after that they look atleast like megan fox
 but overall mate/cinnamon indeed did a great job  ))hope you check xubuntu 12.10 with little makeup )
