I'm running CIS 6.0 with Winpatrol Plus. There is no noticeable slowdown or resource usage. Winpatrol adds some extra protection such as monitoring startup programs, file type changes, uninstall monitoring, etc. Worth using.

Don't miss it you'll be sorry if you do, in the professional version you get a detailed description of every running application on your machine, saving time to research an app makes a big difference when you need to know what's going on, its a must have guys..

Yes and better. I consider WinPatrol more of a monitoring/alerting program than real HIPS like Comodo. Last time i had tried System Shut Down Simulator with WinPatrol, poor Scotty didn't have the time to bark. I wouldn't count on Scotty stopping a really persistent malware, because he will bark too late... Even the Plus version, if you notice, isn't realtime in the sense of Comodo, it always gave me the impression that it was "very fast polling". For example you can install something and Scotty will alert about a new registry entry after installation has finished.

This said, it has the advantage of being much less bulky and thus compatible with all sorts of setups and latest releases are also considerably lighter on CPU. Also it's nice to give info on processes and it's more "average joe" friendly. Oh and it doesn't stop your installation of new programs each time asking you to tell whether to allow like classical HIPS do. This is a con, but also a pro, as it is less annoying.

WinPatrol is more like "a journey friend", to go with any security setup you have, the little dog that will bark even if it won't bite hard, if sees something suspicious in the dark of the night.

And has a great author, Bill Pytlovany!

it is a nice deal but, honestly, I am not giving out my credit card info or paypal info over 99 cents. I mean why not just give it away over a 48 period Bill. I apologize I just dont understand the logic of asking people to expose their financial info for a 99 cent deal.

But the product is very good, just the deal bothers me.

From my point of view, I wouldn't trust a deal like that. It really should have just been a 24 hour free offer. Besides, why would you ever pay its normal price when you can get the same protection for free from much more well known vendors?

What PayPal info do you give? The Payment is done after you login into your Paypal account. You don't login to WinPatrol with your Paypal credentials. I mean, it's just like paying in any other site and Paypal exists exactly so that you don't have to submit real credit card info to dubious sites. If you are too worried that Bill Pytlovany sees your paypal email and hacks you, you can loginto Paypal and change your password to a 128bit one...
