Which of the following antivirus detection tests do you look forward to the most? If you prefer a test that is not listed (a different testing organization/company, some particular Youtube tester, etc) select other and state which one test in your comments.

Well i voted for AV -comparitives as they seem to get mentioned quite a lot on here and elsewhere although im interested in all the tests really to see a wider range of how the products are performing.
As long as my security product keeps me malware clean then thats all the test i really need.

Still, to keep things on topic, I seem to recall my first YouTube review back in 2008. The reviewer was (is) mrizos, and it opened a whole new world to me. More than 4 years later I'm still learning the most from these pieces (mrizos produced a considerable number of followers). Other means of information (sites/blogs/forums/articles/tutorials...) will complement my first source: those most derided, amateurish, irrelevant short videos. P.S. I never got one single infection, which is more than I can say for many so called tech saviour users. And I learnt to protect myself in... yes, YouTube.

It is a pity that multiple choice isn't available in this poll, in any case I am looking forward to reading all AV Comparatives tests.

I prefer to fire up VM Ware and test the software out for myself. But will look at AV-Comparatives and AV-Test since I’m interested in seeing their results.
TopTenREVIEWS only for the LULZ. Since they base things more off of bells and whistles. Rather than the effectiveness of the security product.

None as the tests give you a false sense of security real world and user experience is more important to me!

Wow, now everyone went the other way, for me they are one of the ways in which we can measure security software effectiveness.
I feel AV tests are like crash tests, the are so many variables that can come into play. A highly rated car can still be unsafe depending on the situation/variables but i would prefer to drive one of those instead of the poorly rated ones. ![]()

Other - none of the above. I believe they're all very subjective tests/sample sizes that more often than not do not reflect real world situations, for instance taking into account a layered setup w/restrictions. That the results can be skewed by several factors, including personal bias, or even bribes.
And since I no longer use a real-time AV, they're irrelevant to me anyway. But even if they were relevant, I wouldn't let a few percentage points on such a test sway my decision making process. I'd use a product that was light and played well on my setup (no conflicts). To me, that would be best accomplished by using the full CIS suite. That would be my move if I changed my mind on RTAV's, and I wouldn't give those tests a second (or even first) glance when making the decision.
