These kind of articles are pretty hilarious, "Microsoft's UEFI". Yeah, because Microsoft really created UEFI.........
The only thing Microsoft has to do with this is that if OEMs want Windows 8 certification from Microsoft, they need to turn on secure boot by default. These days it's "make up some poorly researched nonsense and publish ASAP" for page views, rather than taking the time and doing proper journalism. This is purely a measure to allow all distros to boot from Windows 8 Certified Devices until the individual distros figure out their own secure boot methods.

Rosa Linux already offers Basic UEFI Boot Support.
By next year - all distros should have them. Microsoft has nothing to do with the new PC architecture and can't use it to create an exclusive market for itself. |
