how are you getting on with that awful bookmarks manager in Chrome bro?

1- Scrolling through the bookmarks is so slow compared to IE or Firefox.

2- When you restore you bookmarks through XMARKS after a format, your bookmarks lose all their favicons and you have to visit each bookmark again so it is reloaded. In Firefox even after a format or reinstall, the moment you sync your bookmarks the favicons return for all bookmarks automatically

just my 2 cents

Don't think about it too much. You'll get a headache.

One browser. I've never understood why one would need a backup browser.

LOL~! neither did I

I do know that in the days of Windows ME or Windows 98 sometimes IE would just crap out on you and that's why it was a good idea to have a backup browser to access the internet at least and see how you can solve that problem.

But with the advancement of OSes. I have yet to see a computer in that state where the browser wouldn't even start

Backup browser! LOL

I'm actually at work now, but if I'm not mistaken I have 5 browsers installed on my main laptop (Avant, Orca, Maxthon, CoolNovo and IE). I voted for 5, then realised the poll was about how many you use, in which case the only browser I use in that computer is Avant. On my other laptops I use IE 9 - only because I haven't got round to installing Avant yet. I'm not a huge fan of IE, not due any security issues, but becuase it lacks a number of features I look for in a browser.

Going back a number of years, I used Netscape in pereference to IE. However, eventually Netscape started crashing at every launch, even after a uninstall and reinstall, so I switched to IE. Eventually that started only working intermitently and I was unalble to fix it (e.g. installing an updated version failed) so I had to find a solution to fix Netscape, and switched back to it.

This is weird but true. I fixed my IE problems one day by accidently deleting the contents of C:\Windows folder. I often open up a command prompt, went to the C:\Windows\Temp folder and did a "del ." to delete the contents. In this occasion I ran a Dir Temp to look at the contents of the Temp folder, and then mistakenly thought I was in the Temp folder (rather than C:\Windows) and did a "del ." It fixed IE - it worked again, and I was able to update it to the latest version too.

Chrome 99% of the time.
IE9 the other 1% when a page doesn't load right in Chrome.
Every now and again (but not very often) I run into this situation.
This arrangement works fine for me.
IE9 is a good browser too, imho.

Backup browser! LOL
Using 2 browsers, I use the second one as a fail safe. If for instance a web site won't load in Browser #1 I go to browser #2 to see if it's the site or the server that's holding things up. Other than that, I signed up on Chrome when it first appeared and am enjoying watching it progress for the fun of it. Who knows, if it eventually becomes better than Waterfox (my default) I might switch.

I use different browsers for different purpose, for example i am tying this is firefox.
I have opera open which runs my rss and email and maxthon cause i like their homepage.
and rest are beta or alpha versions of various browsers for testing.

But the basic reason is not to be dependant on a particular browser ( i learned it from the good old netscape days !).

I've played around with Avant because one of the posts in this thread aroused my curiosity.
My impressions would produce too long a post, so let's say it's out of my programs list.
