Default Bose is recalling some Acoustimass modules

http://www.bose.eu/EU/en/safety/index.jsp

Quote:
We are voluntarily recalling the Acoustimass® module in the Bose® CineMate® GS Series II and Bose® CineMate® Series II systems from countries where the voltage from the wall outlet is 220 volts or higher. A component in the system’s Acoustimass® module could fail and present a potential fire hazard when operated at these voltages.

If you purchased a Bose® CineMate® GS Series II or Bose® CineMate® Series II system before 12 September 2012 and are using it in a country where the wall outlet voltage is 220 or higher, your system is included in this action. Stop using your Bose® CineMate® GS Series II or Bose® CineMate® Series II system and unplug it from the electrical outlet immediately.

Read more at that site.

Bose speakers are pure hype and marketing. (Talking about sound quality)

Well, close to pure hype. Bose has always made good speakers, but you will not likely find them any serious audiophile's setup.

Hahahaha, they would be better if they didn't charge an uber premium.

Yeah, they do charge a premium, but if you shop around, you can find some deep discounts. And they are good speakers - sure to give years of good service. And the company was an innovator in producing BIG quality sound out of little boxes. They are just not as good (in terms of fidelity) as the hype would suggest - I guess that means they have an outstanding marketing/PR department.

I have never heard a set of Bose that I liked.

Well, the original 901s were, and still are excellent speakers (though many, including yours truly, felt the dispersion was too wide) but sadly, IMO, Bose started living off their name, instead of continuing to innovate.
