I'm inclined to think my hard drive is on the way out. 5 years old and about due to fail...
I'm running ActiveSmart wich says it's all ok,but my gut instinct says otherwise. Is there any utility anyone has found that can actually show a graphical map of bad sectors for Vista ? It appears bad blocks are hidden unlike the old days. |

Hiren's boot cd contains lots of utils that can do the job: MHDD, HDAT2, Vivard...
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ For a online check you can use HDD Scan http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...HDD-Scan.shtml

The HDD Scan i pointed isn't malware, maybe there's some other program with a similar name that is in fact malware.
Just make sure you download it from the softpedia link http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...HDD-Scan.shtml
