I've never used the Pro version, but it even leaves a lot to be desired on demand only. When I start it up it uses a ton of resources... the activity light on my box flashes wildly. I don't understand why.

I recently uninstalled it because of this, and after rebooting my computer had the "New Hardware Wizard" pop up. So I look and noticed something new in my Device Manager named "Unknown" under the "Other" category. How nice... how programs try to exact sweet revenge for having the audacity to uninstall them. Or an honest mistake, some driver left behind with no valid path to point to anymore. In either case, not the type of software I want on my box. I don't trust it, and will never use it again on any box I work on.

Just as a word of warning here in regard to the SAS uninstall tool.

Never again will it be installed.

Even scanning for cookies is a waste of time since they quickly regenerate. So many easy solutions to help control it.

Or you could do it yourself by not playing online games but going to usual dark corners of the web when you're all alone and feel cold.

I know they're harmless, but aren't they tracking cookies and is better to have them removed?

I hate to take a side on the issue. I don't know if it is effective or not since neither SAS or MBAM have caught anything for me. Ever. I don't think it is because they aren't capable, I just haven't had anything they needed to find. I'm not currently using either just because there seems to be no reason to have them installed.

Hi xxJackxx,
I see two very good reasons to have MBAM installed AND running in real-time...
Number one, I really like the Website Blocking feature. I always appreciate it when it jumps up and blocks a site. It's easy enough to override if need be, so I consider it to be a welcome added layer of protection.
Number two, MBAM continues to rack up excellent results against zero-days in the MRG Flash tests. That is exactly the kind of protection I want on my computers.

It's hard to believe SAS PRO has become "junk". I can remember just a few years ago when it literally saved my Daughters computer when it quarantined a slew of trojans in an infection. If it has become "junk" why and how?

My God the negativity here! If Nick saw this he would probably start crying!

That being said I don't use it or recommend it. Why is it so bad now though? It used to be highly recommended?

He's a con man and deserves it. It's incredible that his name has orange letters on this site considering the long line of lies and selling abandoned crap ware products.

I can't say that Nick deserves it, but the product surely does in it's current state. Wasn't SAS aquired by Support.com?.....If YES, then I have the feeling of that the product started to slide after that.

I just couldn't agree more. I believe Support.com made SAS a crap product with absolutely no improvement but instead dumbed it down.

Other than MBAM, what do you folks recommend as a replacement that performs as SAS used to? I use MBAM real time and would like a second app to run on demand for a layering effect.

I know your asking for something to replace SuperAntispyware with but
personally the only on demand scanners I use nowadays are
DrWeb CureIt (Anti-Virus)
Malwarebytes (Anti-Malware)
SpyReveal (Anti-Keylogger)
GMER (Anti-Rootkit)
Which are not run very often at all.
I just don't feel the need for anything else.(Barely feel the need for these)
But maybe something like HitManPro is what your looking for or Emsisoft Emergency Kit

Thanks for the tips. Maybe I'll just run MBAM alone. I'll keep the Hitman pro site in my book marks in case.
