Default Voyager 12.04 review - Voyage, Voyage

I've written a review of Voyager Linux 12.04, based on Xubuntu Precise Pangolin, covering live session, installation, and post-install usage, including Wireless, Samba, look & feel, multimedia playback - Flash, MP3, application branding and customization, setup in a quadruple-boot configuration on a machine with SSD storage, user picture and user account import quirks, applications choice, system stability, suspend & resume, resource usage, annoyances, bugs, and more.

Cheers,

It looks fantatstic but as you say it's nothing that couldn't be achieved with xubuntu or any other xfce distro for that matter. As applies to many of these respins - style over substance.

hi
Serious reviews as usual, far from useless VM/LiveCD based Linux blog reviews...
Voyage seems to refer to a 80s music hit famous for the punk hair cut...
If i permit some grammar corections

La session live instead of Le session live
le bref tour of the esthétique instead of Le brief tour of the aesthetics
Multimedia instead of Multimediaeux
L'installation instead of Le installation
L'après installation usage instead of Le apre-installation usage
Applications (les programmes) instead of Applications (le programmes)

There is also another Linux French distro which focus on graphics and enleighments http://pearlinux.fr/

But seriously, esthetics should not be the first criteria, and in this case i recommend THE Linux From Scratch French community distro
Nutyx http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=nutyx
If you like Arch, you will like Nutyx

Hope that one day Mrk would get a rendez-vous at Karlovy Vary with Jitka Valkova as rewards for all his Linux promotion efforts
Merci again.

Well, I need to work on my French ...
As to Jitka, Mrk approves, but his wife does not.
I am in trouble now.

Chromeboot - another Ubuntu distribution from France is strange - the Ubiquity installer fails to install the English language packs!

And one has to use the Software Center to install GNOME English language packs and then you have to uninstall the French language packs to revert to a usual English language translation!

I hear Cubuntu - a more up to date version installs in the desired language and it shows at boot up.

Foreign Linux distributions can be interesting. I remember the BEOS inspired German distribution ZevenOS was once only in German language - Sie sprechen Deutsche?

The Linux Deepin Ubuntu distribution from China is well worth your review - it contains some unique tools, specially designed software and a complete makeover of GNOME 3. Simply lovely - I understand it now installs in English and its software center is integrated into the OS - nothing else like it exists in the Ubuntu world.
