So your saying your using a 3 user license now and if you buy a 5 user license and if they can add that on to your 3 user license? To me the numbers don't add up but you can contact WSA support to see what they can do for you? But if it's a 5 and 5 I think they will add it on! https://www.webrootanywhere.com/servicewelcome.asp?

I don't see how that would map together. You could just buy the license and then not activate it until your current license expires (it only starts decrementing days when you enter it into the product).

Just to ask a Question if someone has a key or 2 can they use it like one or 2 years from now or even longer?

You'd just need to hold on to it and activate it once your current key expires. It won't ever expire when left unactivated so you could wait 10 years if you want

Thanks,

I already have a 5 user license from a previous "great deal" offer, but I am sure that others would be be interested in your find, so do share!

This is great news on a Sunday morning.

This must mean that my 3-pc, one-year license of which I have only activated 1 license is good for another 2 years

Thanx for the tip!

1 year license key for 3 PC will countdown as soon as you use it on any of the PCs and it will countdown also for the non installed ones. If instead you have three different license numbers then yes.

I also found out that on some occasions, keycodes that were literally stolen will be disabled prior to activation. A friend got like 10 keys for the old thing off eBay for cheap. The first one worked just fine, but when he went to activate the second one, it was for 14 days only. Called support and they advised that the seller on eBay had been selling keycodes that were supposed to be destroyed at a retail store, so Webroot got no money for those $10 keys at all. When the theft was discovered, all of the keys were dropped to two weeks.

Buyer beware. If the deal sounds too good to be true and isn't directly from the company, chances are high that it might really be too good to be true. I've seen people sell trial keycodes in some places as full codes, or partially-enabled keycodes. Those great deals can sometimes be a gamble and Webroot can't be responsible for people selling you stolen stuff. So the only recourse you have on stolen keys is the seller, and good luck with that.

Plus, honestly, I'd rather support what Webroot is doing than support a "great deal" for keycodes that may be stolen. Even if I spend a full $80 on complete for a year, I mean, really, that's $6.67 a month. People these days spend that much a DAY on gasoline.

Big Grin Re: new key code

It seems some people will under no circumstances buy AV software, they will buy anything else though, I use some great free-ware but relying on free AV programs that may update once a day or have no prevention qualities even though the malware removal may be good is of limited value if your AV updated last 12 hours ago but it's almost a religion with some to rely exclusively on free AV regardless.

I feel stopping the blighters getting in your PC in the first place is a far better system than trying to remove them & clearing up the mess later but it seems well ingrained in some folks mindset for some reason or another to buy anything but decent AV software.

I do try to educate but it's often after people have lost data etc - I'll now clean up a friend a relatives PC once along with advice for prevention, if the advice is ignored I have better things to do with my life & their pleas for help then go unheard, I do give in sometimes though

Edited for grammar -

Well I brought a key maybe 2 years ago [ memory not good]
and I uninstall webroot because of a few LITTLE problems

but have just re-installed it and low and behold my key was
still good for around six months that I had left when I uninstalled
it, WOW I couldn't believe it, and the problems seem to have been fixed now

Good Job Webroot

Direct sale of a 69.95 MSRP product for 3.98... The average distribution channel discount for media puts the product at 40% of its MSRP. Buy the box for about 28, sell it for an MSRP of 70, that's how it works. New product comes out (2012) and you have 8,000 boxes of the old stuff (2011) left? No problem! Destroy on Location and because the publisher trusts you, they will refund you for the 8,000 boxes you bought for 28 each. Anybody who has worked in tech retail during the fall reset is very used to this sort of thing. Book publishers often have unsold product destroyed and the covers sent back as proof of destruction, for example, but these days it's just a statement saying "Yes, we destroyed them" and trust.

So for Dabs to make a profit at all from those (which it would want to do most likely), it would have needed to buy them at about 2. Does that strike you as Maybe Just a Little Bit Weird?

Even places with a good reputation can play dirty. Look at Apple or Google, or Microsoft.

I personally wouldn't buy it from them. When you liquidate something you paid for, you try to make a reasonable return on it. 15% is low for liquidation. Retailers generally aim for 30% or above. So either they are liquidating it at a disgustingly low price and taking a massive loss on it, or they might have reported the boxes as destroyed and are trying to make a profit off the effectively and literally stolen stuff.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but when the modus operandi matches that of the people who steal the Destroy on Location stuff under the radar, it's kind of suspicious. :\ This is MY PERSONAL OPINION, mind you. YMMV.

Well they are either genuine or they aren’t, you can't really have a midway point. it looks like the same product is being sold for 30 notes on the main DABS site. As they have sold over 2400 of them (they say) you really can't blame someone risking the price of a drink of beer on buying the item. I can't see how they can be making anything on them it must cost £2.50+ on P&P - I would have thought they would have had some grief off Webroot by now if they were less than honest? It's not really an issue to me as I'm up to date anyway.

I do know of one PC repair shop that buys 3 licence Norton OEM's off Ebay or elsewhere & then sells each licence separately to buyers of their PC's at an inflated price!! There is all sorts going on - I live a very sheltered life though

10,000 codes were sent.
5,000 were sold legitimately.
5,000 were "stolen".

How does the company determine which ones were legitimate and which are not? Can't even go by whether they are in use, since somebody could hold onto it and not activate it until later.

Unless it was stolen and so the un-activated ones were marked by the company as bad. Then if somebody had a "Not yet activated" keycode and tried to use it, they would get 30 days or less and be told to contact support with a valid proof of purchase. Then $5 is "Not valid, we're sorry but the seller in that case was not authorized. Please request a refund from them. We can assist you in acquiring a valid code."
