Computer Scans Abnormalities

Yesterday several “Smart scans” were accomplished in 42 seconds - almost similar results obtained with “run local disk scan” - this is not my norm - "Smart scans” take 20 minutes.

Last night before retiring ran a full “Custom scan" - this morning the scanner was still running - not good!

Uninstalled / Installed and ran “Smart scan” which took the normal 20 minutes - ten minutes later reran the “Smart scan” again - this time it finished in 6 minutes.

Question: is the scanner so smart that it knows/remembers the first 20 minute scan where it may not need to dig as deep in the second scan within the ten minute time frame - hence the 6 minute second scan?

Question: what may have caused the 42 seconds scans and the overnight scan that never finished?

No new additions / changes to system - running version 5.2.9.1

As for the nightly scan that didn't finish, it would require further analyzis in order to tell what the problem was. I assume it could be a particular archive that the scanner stuck on. You can enable logging of all files and run the scan again to find our what is being scanned.

As for Smart scans, they take advantage of a local cache as well as LiveGrid cloud information to speed up subsequent scans.
