Default Intel/McAfee: What's the future of security?

Quote:
By Ellen Messmer, Network World

Intel completed its multibillion-dollar acquisition of McAfee almost a year and a half ago, and this week McAfee co-President Mike DeCesare spoke with Network World senior editor Ellen Messmer about what the merger of Intel's chip-making capabilities and McAfee's security expertise is expected to bring down the road.

Hearing the name "McAfee" rings more marketing-expertise bells than security ones imho.

Whatever it is, I hope it never comes to fruition, because

a) I'd trust McAfee AV to protect my computer from malware about as much as I'd trust a deaf Pomeranian to protect my house from vandals.

b) The whole concept of the on-access AV should have died a long time ago.

No quarms with McAfee (their support has been top notch for their corperate products we use), but not sure on embedded software of anykind is a good idea for anything other than appliances.
