Every file downloaded from your webbrowser by standard way is saved outside the sandbox by default, otherwise it's saved in the sandbox (this setting works for the most used webbrowsers: ie/ff/opera/chrome) and it can be turned off in the Sandbox settings. You can also set up a special folder which contents will be excluded from the sandbox.
ok thanks for the info

Only paid versions of avast! have browser protection where entire browser is always sandboxed to prevent exploits from working.

There is no such thing as avast! 8, not final, beta or anything else. Except in the avast! development lab...

No, it's not available in free version. Browser Protection is just a category for the tools. With paid versions you actually get checkbox for sandboxing next to each browser...

When will be added a true Behavior Monitoring?
The current functions like a HIPS: protecting crucial system areas, e.g. System startup reg entries.

As for the behavior shield, i've asked several times but never got definitive answer. Unfortunately.

I will post up the screenshot after my exams. He was saying he was using a beta version and it updated to avast 8 beta.

Your friend might want to make sure he isn't running a fake AV.

I just installed the auto-sandbox in previous versions, but I was surprised when I saw malware detections from the Filesystem shield.

Is that bug already fixed?

Well, considering you don't even see number 7 in many places, i doubt that you've seen 8 anywhere.

Oddly, the first BSOD happened while watching Languy99 do a review of avast 7 beta on youtube. Good review for avast too.

Then, I began googling for similar problems and found quite a few instances of avast and BSOD's involving Youtube, windows media player and similar. No real solutions though. Some concerned google chrome, others firefox and even MSIE.

All that said, I'm keeping AVAST. If I want to listen to music, I'll use my laptop.

I take these software reviews with a pinch of salt.i dont consider them a fair test of the product and languy99 is a comodo moderator so to him comodo is the best and other products are not so good.its quite pathetic in my eyes that these reviewers throw a certain amount of malware at the product and expect it to catch everything.your casual user will never come across ten or more malware samples unless they do it deliberately and what sort of fool downloads and install 3000 pieces of malware on to a computer..they are unreliable tests.

Kind Regards.

Languy99 also found KIS2012 very good, with catching all. So not really biased.

Is there a way to auto update at certain times of the day? I see in settings there are settings for manual, notify and auto...so is there a setting to update elsewhere in the settings that I am missing?

If there is no way to update at certain times of the day is there a way to disable the ugly warning logo in my task bar when I have the settings to "notify" me of updates?

No Vladimyr. You've posted how to stop monitoring the virus definitions update and not how to remove the update panel.

Sorry if I got it wrong. I thought "the ugly warning logo in my task bar when I have the settings to "notify" me of updates" referred to by 'acr1965' was this one..

Well, maybe you're right and I'm wrong. The better would be another post from acr1965.
