I agree jmonge. I am going to try MSE forawhile but if it diesnt cut the mustard, going to WSA as they still stand the best chance for rising to the top.

With KIS, Firefox would not launch and with AAP my system seemed unstable. Instead of messing with the settings and trying to find the cause I just uninstalled. I may try Avast IS again but with some shields not installed.

Changed to F-Secure, it's almost Bitdefender without the blue screens and other bugs, did very well last AV-Test report
Probably gonna grab something to run on-demand aswell...
Edit: It's very light too!

Have been comparing KIS 2012, NIS 2012, and BIS 2012. Certainly all solid...KIS is still a little heavier then the other two. I am surprised though, after using Bitdefender for 2 days, running several full scans, lots of browsing, it seems quite light. A few years back, that wasn't the case. I still think WSA is coming on fast and will be excellent (if not already).

I had tried BAV and it was pretty light compared to the 2010 version. WSA will share the top place in some months with EAM(because I'm using EAM ) absolutely no doubt imo.

Just put Sandboxie (Experimental Mode) on a new computer (Win7 64-bit).
Also running OA Free (firewall w/program guard, web shield and anti-keylogger), VIPRE AV and MBAM Pro. KeyScrambler Premium, KeePass, Norton DNS and Chrome browser round out the setup. HitmanPro on-demand.

Very good setup Page. Solid all round protection. What imaging software are you using my friend?

Oh I see. That's unfortunate. But I'm sure if you start a new thread in the Firewall sub-forum, members using spyshelter fw will more than help you my friend.

Man a new box can take FOREVER to get all switched around to the way you like it! I'm all tethered (no wireless anything), so just moving 3 computers around can be a tangle. I purchased that Premium to Ultimate upgrade, so before too long I will go that route and start looking into AppLocker and BitLocker. For now, I am about in the middle of the XP to W7 learning curve. I like the OS just fine, though.

ISP service includes email scanner and spam-filter. Wireless Router with WPA2, SPI (message range) with Flood/Poisoning/Spoofing protection and Norton DNS (on malware). Changes in Blue

Running as Admin on Windows7 x32 ultimate with OS-build-in security:

----------- from network stack to process stack ------------------
Use Windows FW both for inbound and outbound. Added a deny execute on all threat gate folders (browser download, e-mail and media player using Access Control Lists deny execute/traverse folder for Everyone).

--- from Low Rights (Protected mode) to Medium Rights (LUA) ---
Using Chromium (unsigned application) with Chrome sandbox and build in safe browsing. Running PDF and Flash plug-in with Mandatory Low Rights. Using startpage as search engine, vista basic/windows7 skin with extensions Bitdefender QuickScan and VTchromizer

-------- from Medium (LUA) rights to High (Admin) Rights ---------
User is only allowed to execute signed executables (AppLocker) plus Chromium and 7-Zip, Admin is allowed to run all from safe places (SRP). Unsigned programs can't elevate to Admin (UAC). Running browser, mail, media player "As Invoker" (file and registry virtualisation) with EMET 3.0 memory overflow protection.

--------------------------- On demand -----------------------------
- Grand parent (USB drives), Parent (NAS, 2nd HD), Child (HD) backup scheme with Win7 Image and Synctoy Data backup
- Running CCleaner through scheduled task (/run /tn) to evade UAC pop-up
- HitmanPro Free scan

Thanks buddy. I have had problem with OA and my VPN but now I found a workaround. Now I'm gonna keep my setup for a while.

Yes, it was surprisingly fast. It took it a little more than half an hour to scan my whole computer. It will probably be a keeper
