EXE radar has detail of whats trying to execute, also you can upload a process for Viral or Malware scanning from its UI and has a nice utilities from the UI that allows,Task manager - Registry editor - system restore - service manager - Security Center - CMD DOS Prompt - Explorer Shell - Windows Update - System properties and control panel. It has lot of features for free and very light weight.A lot more features included in expert mode as well.

I'm familiar with the (expert) features of Exe Radar in the free version. I had it installed on my wife's machine but decided that she was better suited with PrivateFirewall so that she'd have the benefit of an anti-executable (via the process monitor) as well as outbound firewall control at roughly similar CPU/RAM usage levels.

I guess my question was (beyond those nice features included in Exe Radar) more regarding the potential conflict of running two anti-executables side by side. (Sort of the way we've been advised to avoid running two HIPS at the same time.)

Thanks for sharing your info and experience.

Sorry I misunderstood.IF you mean AppGuard and EXE Radar I see your point.I did however put EXE Radar in the power Apps of AppGuard to avoid possiable conflick. When I install something to try I Always have to lower AppGuards settings to install so I will still be prompt the Excutable from Exe for viewing just in case something looks strange.

Thanks, djohn.

My own current setup is in my sig.

On my wife's XP Pro SP3 system I have a simple and low resource setup:

PrivateFirewall
Sandboxie
Shadow Defender

Her machine is essentially used for email/Twitter/browsing. She does no financial transactions and maintains no sensitive data.

Sandboxie and Shadow Defender together may seem repetitive and redundant but I have it setup so that Sandboxie keeps a tight leash on what is allowed to start and connect...and Shadow Defender is the last line of defense (upon reboot) if something were to somehow pass the barriers of Sandboxie and PrivateFirewall.

A "downloads" folder which is "forced" within Sandboxie is provided an exception in Shadow Defender so that its contents will not be removed upon reboot.
(However, nothing is permitted to run or connect from within that folder.) Hitman Pro scans all downloads prior to their being committed to the real system.

Still hate this kind of practices. It's enough that the software is crippled,i understand this as i don't pay a dime for it,but please...a nag screen on boot?No thank you, novirusthanks.

I have heard plenty of good reviews about Shadow Defender, but can't afford it right now. What do you think about the free alternative...Toolwiz Time Freeze?

I dont like toolwiz,I am not saying its bad but during installation a reboot is required. That caused my system never to boot back up again just to a black screen of empty space minus the stars and moon of course.

That did not last long. I just can't bring myself to get used to a real time av once I've been using on demand scans and sbie.

Hi !

There already a AV included in Ubuntu working in a background (I think is ClamAV).

I play with Ubuntu since 2006 without any problem, simply do the regulary update, common sense and use firefox with his classic security exention (No Script, Adblock, WOT and ect...) and you're set...

Have a nice day

There is no AV running in background. No need for that.
