1 GB? That's crazy! They should move it to the could. That would free up a lot of space for a lot of people.

You should ask about the I/O usage instead

I'm fine as long as the memory usage stays below 100MB.

Low memory usage means that there has to be something else working instead, i.e higher I/O and CPU usage. Many PCs today, except lower end laptops and old computers, has atleast 4GB of RAM, with most of it unused.

Well it was more like a joke, and that I agreed with you that it is unacceptable.

But you can check Norton if you want

I've been using BitDefender IS 2012 for several months on Win7 64 Bit. It is the least intrusive (lightest) antivirus/firewall I've ever used. Haven't had a single problem to date. Honestly don't even know its there except that it's blocked a couple of internet sites. It's really unbelievable.

yeah ! 30 days and i wish also there was a button in the AVs program sayin " I want to try it more " when your 30days trial is finished :d lol
check this out :
http://beta2013.bitdefender.com/

bitdefender says :

"
Test and win!

At this point, you're probably asking "OK, but how do I get at the prizes?"

The answer is quite simple:
Download the product installation kit you need (32-bit or 64-bit version) and the Orientation Guide
Log into the feedback platform (you will need to make an account if you don't already have one)
Report as many and as varied bugs as you can find.
Profit! (This is the step where you get a prize for finding the most and/or the "juiciest" bugs).

Terms and conditions do apply, so read those too.

The most active Beta testers will receive:
Asus B121 12.1 inch Tablet
Acer Aspire S3 13.3 inch Ultrabook - Aluminium
Nokia Lumia 900
+ 100 Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 licenses for 6 months
"

best regards

I also am testing this product and it is feeling realy lighter then the 2012 version and it works great at this moment and doesn't use too many memory like the other Bitdefender versions did.

Greats,

darts

I wonder how light BD 2013 Total Security is compared to F-Secure I.S. 2012 which is one of the lightest AV/suites I have ever used and seems to be a close second place to the old NOD32 v2.7x AV for resource usage running on Windows XP Pro.

60 Days seem reasonable.
I'm still deciding if giving it a try or not.

I have 16 GB of RAM so im the least bit concerned about how much RAM it uses. What matters to me is how snappy my system feels with BIS installed!

I don't even feel I have a security suite installed!! it's that light!

With a core i7, SSD, and 16 gb of ram, so you really feel other AVs on your system? I would imagine 95% them would have no real impact.

I still own a Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 3 user / 2 year license and I just bit the bullet and bought BIS because when I tried the demo, it was wayyyyyyy lighter!

Yes, even with my system, Kaspersky made it feel like a little turtle.

For example, if I would launch the Nero 11 setup file which is around 150+ MB, my system would freeze for 60 seconds then it will start launching the installer.

I tried disabling participation in the Cloud system for Kaspersky but that didn't help much. Imagine I had a slower system or a system with an HDD! That would be a nightmare!

launching any setup file takes ages and yes I do tend to format and reinstall all my apps a lot so that is a major slow down for me. Maybe regular users won't feel this as much as I do but even overall with BIS my system is light as it didn't have an AV installed!

I am not trying to start a KIS vs BIS thread here just stating my personal unbiased experience as I own the license for both

I used to have the same problems as you berry, (Back in 2009-2010) when i launched an executable it seems that KIS took ages to scan it.

Just tested this out, and the results are rather impressive. Great protection, and decent resource usage. Only things I didn't like were the number of processes (4-5?) and it did seem to slow browsing a bit. Their web guard, while extremely effective, seems to slow things down a bit for me. Also, get very weird results if trying a speed test. Appears to be a great program though.

P.S. It's also annoying they make you uninstall MBAM. Bitdefender needs to fix this asap.
