Previously, I'm only using virtual mode for testing software that doesn't need reboots. I'm now thinking of always running in virtual mode, so I have a few questions.
(I'm asking this because I don't know if a conflict could happen and will cause me to be trapped in virtual mode forever. I'm paranoid no? )
1. If I enable "Start Virtual Mode when I start Windows", how will I be able to turn it off again? I will just tick off the option again and reboot? or do I need to tick off the option and remove and "Save all changes"?
2. Since I'm using the free version, I don't have access to file manager. I'm now using the virus guard in Returnil and Immunet Protect (cloud engines only so that it doesn't need updates). If the virus guard updated it's signatures during in virtual mode, does the updated signatures kept across reboot (without the option "save all changes")?
3. I do disk imaging. (Cold imaging to be exact through pre-boot environment of Keriver 1-click restore). What are your insights if I do an image, while "Start Virtual Mode when I start Windows" is checked? Does the cache created by Returnil be erased in reboot if "Start Virtual Mode when I start Windows" checked?

preferences > Advanced tab > "Do not start in Windows Safe Mode" option. This is active by default and is there as an emergency troubleshooting option that will cause the Virtual Mode feature to be inactive when you are in Safe Mode.

Yes

No, the cache is only released when the Virtual Mode is deactivated and you restart the computer to release it.

So, the only way to untick "Start Virtual Mode when I start Windows" is that way? Or I could also do this?

1. No, if the Virtual Mode is stuck - that is you have unchecked the option at Virtual Mode > Virtual Mode always on, restarted the computer, but the Virtual Mode is still active on restart. This is rare but the option to stop the VM in Safe Mode is there to allow troubleshooting and uninstall if that is required.

If I remember properly, you can move this cache to another disk/partition, so that it doesn't become part of your imaging of your system drive.

I see no option in the configuration to change the location of the cache.

It used to be there. Basically, you create a new cache on a different drive/partition and the size you want. Reboot and then delete the old cache.

You can change the location for the virtualization cache, but only on alternate disks that are added to the multi-disk virtualization which can be altered in the RVS Lite series. In the Pro versions, you can add non-system disks to the virtualization but cannot change where the caches are stored.

The cache for the System Partition needs to be on the System Partition due to the technology used (disk level) to create the virtualization.
