Windows 8 Start Menu/Taskbar Replacements

Those of you who, like me, can't stand the Metro UI in Windows 8 may want to have a look at WinStep Extreme (WSE). I used it a couple of years ago, but went back to the Nexus toolbar because Windows 7 Aero met my needs. It occurred me to try WSE again in the Windows 8 CP and this may make it possible for me to eventually move to 8. It effectively reproduces the 7 desktop with Start Menu, taskbar and sidebar gadgets. The only other Start Menu replacement I'm aware of is offered by Stardock and it's nowhere close to a complete solution like WSE.

I don't mean for this thread to be exclusively about WSE so feel free to add to the list of Start Menu/Taskbar alternatives that will work in Windows 8.
