Spring is in the air, and April proved to be another great month for the IE team. In our continued efforts to support the HTML5 platform, we partnered with teen music artist Jasmine Villegas to launch an interactive music video, and also launched an online throwback to arcade games, based on the popular Marshmallow People online video series (-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDn2Xp5ctQM-).

lots of people are using IE because it's already installed on their machine.

if it wasn't for Protected Mode i would rank it last for features and performances in all of the major browsers.

IE9 x86 is my primary browser, it works very well for me. I also use Firefox beta, but I prefer IE9 because the "startup" of my normal mix of 7 pages is much faster.

I'd really love for them to address this problem, it can be tracked all the way back to early versions of IE including IE 6 which is only still supported as XP had it's support extended. All other popular browsers I tested don't fail this test.

I still use ie6 but only for Windows Update. Other than Windows Update, I probably have used IE about once in the last 6 months. I was surprised at the size of the Chrome market worldwide. The second and third browsers together have more worldwide market share than IE and that is pretty good considering IE is already part of windows.

No they don't.

The stats you saw on those images are about the browser market share in Windows 7 only. Also, only Internet Explorer 9's market share is represented on those images. Remember, the browser that comes preinstalled with Windows 7 is Internet Explorer 8, not Internet Explorer 9.

I thought this was very clear, but when there are images with attractive colors/icons some people seem to simply skip the textual part.

So I can assume the chart means that for any Windows 7 computer that has IE9, then Chrome has a larger market share than firefox but if the computer has IE8 even if the Computer is running Windows 7 then the market share will be different, correct?

I realize that this chart does not represent IE9 but you can see from the chart that IE has lost quite a bit of share compared to the other browsers since 2008. I believe competition is what caused Microsoft to update their browser after so long which is good. Maybe the share will improve more with IE10. I do not use it, but I am really surprised how chrome came out of nowhere.

Edit: I do not know if this also included devices like smartphones. When Windows 8 comes out, things will probably change. It will be interesting.

Those charts in my first post are comparing the market shares of Internet Explorer 9, Chrome 18 and Firefox 11/12 in the universe of users of Windows 7 desktop OS.

As for your link, it's pretty much meaningless. NetApplications's methodology is much much better than StatCounter's.

Yes there seems to be a leak even with IE9 according to grc.I tried to block first party and the return results are the same as third party.Regardless I still use IE over third party its just my preference.
